Terms of Service
The terms PowerSafe comes with.
Free to use on your own devices, with your vault in your own keeping.
Effective October 11, 2026
1. Who you agree with
These terms cover PowerSafe: the app for Android, iPhone, Windows and macOS, its browser extension, and this website.
If you live in the United States, you agree them with Unidatum Integrated Products LLC. Everywhere else in the world, you agree them with Unidatum Integrated Products Limited, Venture Hub, 136 Capel Street, Dublin D01 T2C9, Ireland. "Unidatum", "we" and "us" mean whichever of the two that is.
By installing or using PowerSafe you accept these terms. If you do not, do not use it.
2. PowerSafe
PowerSafe is a password manager that runs on your own devices. We do not host your vault, run a service you depend on, or hold an account for you: your devices keep your vault and sync it with each other.
PowerSafe is proprietary and closed source. The third-party components it includes are open source, under their own licences (such as MIT, BSD, Apache 2.0 and MPL 2.0), which continue to apply to them.
3. Your licence
We give you a free, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use PowerSafe on devices you own or control, for your own personal use or your organisation's internal use. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
4. What you may not do
You may not: copy PowerSafe except to install it; modify it or make works derived from it; reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except where the law allows you to despite this term; redistribute, sell, rent or sublicense it; offer it to others as a hosted service; remove its notices; or use it to build a competing product.
You must use PowerSafe lawfully, including under export control and sanctions laws.
5. Military use
PowerSafe may be used for military purposes by armed forces, defence ministries and defence contractors, provided that use does not directly cause the death of persons protected under the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their Additional Protocols, such as civilians, prisoners of war and medical personnel. A breach of this is material, ends your licence immediately without notice, and leaves you solely responsible for your obligations under export, sanctions and humanitarian law.
Separately, if PowerSafe is used, directly or indirectly, to support the State of Israel, including its government, armed forces, agencies and contractors, the licence terminates immediately and the software becomes unlicensed.
6. Your vault is yours, and in your keeping
You own what you keep in PowerSafe, and we claim no rights in it. We never receive it.
That makes you responsible for it. Your master password cannot be reset or recovered, by you or by us: if you forget it, the vault cannot be opened. Keep your devices, your pairing links and your backups safe, and keep PowerSafe on more than one device if losing one would cost you your passwords. Anyone with a pairing link can join your vault while it is valid.
7. Updates and support
We may publish new versions; whether to install them is your choice, and PowerSafe does not update itself. We may stop publishing PowerSafe at any time; what you have installed keeps working on your devices.
We offer no support commitment, though we welcome reports.
8. App stores
If you got PowerSafe from Google Play, the App Store or the Chrome Web Store, that store's terms also apply to your download. These terms are between you and Unidatum, not the store, and the store is not responsible for PowerSafe or for supporting it. Where you got PowerSafe from Apple's App Store, Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
9. No warranty, and the limit of our liability
PowerSafe and this website are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express, implied or statutory, including of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits or business, and our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to Unidatum for PowerSafe in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability the law does not let us limit, or takes away rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Unidatum and its people against claims, losses and costs, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your use of PowerSafe, your breach of these terms, or your infringement of anyone else's rights. This does not apply where the law, including EU consumer law, does not allow it.
11. Ending
These terms apply while you use PowerSafe. You may stop at any time by uninstalling it. We may end your licence for a breach you have not cured within 30 days of our notice, or at once for a breach of section 4 or 5. When it ends, stop using PowerSafe and delete your copies; your vault stays on your devices.
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the courts of Ireland have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, you keep the protection of the mandatory law where you live, and may bring proceedings there.
Before starting formal proceedings, we each agree to try to resolve a dispute informally for at least 30 days. After that, either of us may start binding arbitration, and any dispute will be resolved on an individual basis and not in a class or representative action. This paragraph does not apply to users in the EU or the UK.
13. Privacy
How PowerSafe and this website handle personal data is set out in the Privacy Policy (powersafe.unidatum.com/privacy).
14. Changes, and the rest
We may change these terms. We will post a material change here at least 30 days before it takes effect. Using PowerSafe after the effective date means you accept the change.
If a provision is found invalid, it is changed as little as needed to be valid, and the rest stays in effect. These terms, with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about PowerSafe; a written agreement you have signed with us prevails where it differs.
